Free Kent Test practice papers, with answers.

A full mock in the Kent Test format — the Reasoning paper, the English and Maths paper and the writing task. Print them or work on screen; the answers are one click away. For how the real test is put together, read the Kent Test, explained.

The papers

  • Paper 1 — Reasoning

    45 questions · 55 minutes

Verbal reasoning (word meanings, codes, letter and number series, hidden words) and non-verbal reasoning (series, analogies, grids, rotation, codes) with a spatial section.

  • Paper 2 — English and Maths

    50 questions · 50 minutes

A reading comprehension with spelling, punctuation and grammar, then maths from place value and fractions to measures, shape and data.

  • The writing task

    40 minutes

One piece of creative writing, with time to plan. In the real test it isn’t scored — it’s kept for the headteacher panel.

Sitting it at home.

  • Print the paper, or open it on a tablet and write the answers on paper. Every question is multiple choice: one letter each.
  • Set a timer for the time shown. Finishing in time is part of the skill, so treat the timing as part of the practice.
  • Mark it with the answers. Then go back over the ones that went wrong together — that is where the learning is.
  • The writing task is 40 minutes, including 10 to plan. In the real test it isn’t scored; it is kept for the headteacher panel.

What the score tells you.

A mark out of the total is a raw score. The Kent Test turns raw marks into age-standardised scores, so one paper at home can’t say whether a child would pass. For an estimated standardised score in each subject, and the subject to work on first, take the free 20-minute diagnostic.

This is Gramora’s Mock 1 of 13. The other twelve, each a full sitting like this one, come with the free trial — along with a weekly plan to the test.
